CRAFTSMAN

This craftsman’s hands move among wicker canes inserting, braiding and weaving with another ones, over another ones and thus this frame starts to take shape, the shape José Luis Encijo Cava wanted to achieve when he started the work.

Armchairs, baskets, trunks…, wicker pieces coming from the know-how of the wicker craftsmen’s hands. The reddish wicker from this region that tinges the landscape with the ripe crop before it is harvested, to work it and be finally molded within their hands, is one of the characteristics of basketmaking from this part of Castile.
