Nuestra Señora de la Antigua de Manjavacas festivity in Mota del Cuervo
Mota del Cuervo (Cuenca)GPS: 39.502899169921875, -2.8731000423431396At daybreak, in a hermitage seven kilometers away from Mota del Cuervo, this pilgrimage starts. Manjavacas Virgin goes on procession to the Hito, where her vestments are taken off and she is covered with a cape. The reason, that she will run, carried by her bearers, and followed by the locals, also running. At both sides of the road, those present cheer on and encourage, while the image bearers take turns, trying not to stop.
Once at the village, the procession goes back to normal pace, and covered the image with her vestments, remains for 15 days in the church. She will go back to the hermitage also running, but at noon, and right out in the sun. Upon their arrival, around the hermitage, a tradicional lamb stew to regain strength.
