MAIN ATTRACTIONS

In the peat bogs of this river, of very cold waters, carnivorous plants –sundew– grow. But don't panic! They are only lethal for the insects. Its peculiar name comes from Latin "pera galena" or "pela galena" (white stone), in reference to the white stone that can be found in Alto Rey mountain range and which differenciate it from the black one in the zone of the Ocejón. It is a characteristic that perfectly distinguishes this river of others that existing in slate zones. Over the years, the name changed to "Pelagallinas".
You can walk through the "Ruta de la Cueva del Oso" (Bear's cave route), signalized path that passes by its margins. There are authors that affirm the Cid walked through the river valley after his exile, where there is a house called "Casa del Moro", in front of "Cueva del Oso"

WHAT WE’LL SEE

The river has one of the few genetically pure trout populations. Its spectacular peat bogs of glacial origin count on unique plants, true peculiarities of the region. Its meadows, closed by typical walls of the black architecture, and the mountain landscape of its surroundings are magnificent landscapes to take a walk and enjoy. In autumn its meadows fill of delicious Boletus.
