MAIN ATTRACTIONS
The spectacular Cerro de los Santos volcano was born from a single eruption, spewing lava everywhere. Today we can even appreciate the black and sometime red volcanic material over its slopes. It was one of the places in which the Celtiberians placed their fortified cities.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
An incomparable landscape, formed by a large high dome over the surrounding plains, in a town crossed by mountains, such as Sierra de Trincheto, Utrera, Sierra del Pico or Puerto de los Majales, among others. We can complete the journey with the Cabañeros National Park, located in the immediate vicinity.
ACCESS
The volcano is located next to the village Porzuna. We arrived at the village from Ciudad Real by the CM-412 and from points in the north, by road CM-403. The best access to the volcano is made by the road that leads to San Isidro Hermitage, on its summit. This path is taken from the road linking Porzuna with Las Casas del Río village.
MOST SUITABLE VISIT TIME, WHAT TO TAKE
Throughout the year. Comfortable clothing and footwear, and binoculars to observe the surrounding area from the top.
