MAIN APPEAL
Hellín comprises proof of times that date back to the initial times of human settlements amongst its displays. However, upon those same traces, in some cases time grows between the remains from different eras and we find a historical sequence that is made up of different objects, gadgets, paintings...from Neolithic times, the Bronze Age and it continues up until the Iberian and Roman history. This evolution shows that Hellín was always a place for settlements and it is still a community with a high number of citizens.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
On the right-hand bank of the Minateda stream is the archaeological collection with the same name. Around the great shelter there is another series of up to five smaller shelters which make up this rich collection. Both the Levantine naturalistic style with hunting and animal scenes and the schematic style which is more linear and geometrical can be seen.
Of special interest are the sixteen metres of length along which the paintings of the great shelter are represented. As we view them, we can appreciate animal figures: deer, horses, goats, and also human ones: men or women with headwear, dresses and body decorations.
