MAIN APPEAL
Nerpio is found spread around the remains of other villages. Amongst its various shelters we find a display of prehistoric culture. On the site at Macalón we can also find signs of continuous population since the Bronze Age. However, it is the paintings that dye the walls of those multiple cavities drilled into the limestone which have great importance as a representation of Levantine art and they show us the creative ability of post-Palaeolithic man.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
The Hoz Shelter, the Viñuela Shelter, the Ídolos Shelter, the Sabinares Shelter...many parts of the natural prehistorical museum in Nerpio. But the collection of Solana de las Covachas must be pointed out, where human figures appear alone or in couples where there are hardly any group hunting scenes. We must also highlight Torcal de las Bojadillas, where a group of figures shows a dance where a male character watches over a group of women in long skirts. There are also animal representations completing the description of the old artists’ life.
