MAIN ATTRACTIONS

Campos del Paraíso is a municipality that is comprised of the towns Carracosa del Campo, Valparaíso de Arriba and Valparaíso de Abajo. It is found at the southern border of La Alcarria. If we focus on highlighting the beautiful touristic attractions, the visits to the church of the  Assumption, in Valaparíso de Abajo, and the church of the Nativity, in Carrascosa, are essential.

WHAT WE’LL SEE

The first is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption. From the Baroque period, its construction spanned the 17th and 18th centuries. It has a tower at the foot of the church and two facades. It has a Latin cross floor plan and a solitary nave. The best of the church is its Baroque altarpiece behind the main altar, made of polychromed wood.

In Carrascosa the highlight is the church of the Nativity. Its construction began in the 16th century, s the Gothic elements of the apse, sacristy, and tower demonstrate. Its main facade is of great beauty, with one semicircular arch and whose decoration employs Gothic and Plateresque elements. Inside, as we pass through towards the apse, we will see that its style changes towards the Baroque, as its fasciculated columns and starred vaults show.

ACCESS

Freely accessible, respecting the hours of worship.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

The town has other very recommendable churches that we can visit, and if we feel like changing the topic we can go visit the archaeological site of las Madrigueras, from the Iron Age.
