MAIN ATTRACTIONS
In this small village, located in the region of La Manchuela, the parish church of Saint Andrew Apostle and the hermitage of the Cristo de las Eras stands out. Very interesting as well, is one of its traditions, celebrated on August the 23rd, known as the Night of the Piles. A frantic race of nocturnal torches across the countryside from the White Crag.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
The church, renovated at the end of the 18th century, is a simple Neoclassic construction that has a rectangular floor plan with three naves separated by square pillars. The central nave is divided by four semicircular arches at each side which lead to the lateral chapels. In its main chapel, we will see a lovely sculpture of Saint Andrew from the 16th and 17th centuries. Also interesting is a paintnig of the Virgen de la Dolorosa, dated between the 17th and 18th centuries. Regarding the Baroque hermitage, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, we must highlight its Latin cross floor plan, cupola over the transept, and a long main nave of 5 sections. It houses a magnificent sculpture of the Crucified Christ with svelte proportions and meticulous anatomy, nailed with three nails over a flat cross and to which many miracles have been attributed.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS
Do not forget to visit the Castle of Carcelén, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, located in the town center. A big turret with a square floor plan, topped at the four corners with turrets. Nowadays it is a library. In the past it was used as a jail, lecture room and City Hall.
