MAIN ATTRACTIONS
In the region of la Serranía, 65 km from Cuenca, we find the noble village of Cardenete. The town preserves its ancient layout from its Roman era and various examples of traditional architecture, such as its mountain homes with wooden frameworks and other house-caves excavated into the rock, which are very interesting. In the urban complex, the Main Square and the church of the Assumption stand out.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
The most noteworthy of the plaza is that it also has a smaller plaza, separated by the City Hall building that is in the center and was constructed in the 18th century. On one side we’ll see the church, a faithful witness to the history of this town, built and decorated between the 15th and 18th centuries, and therefore within its walls it has Gothic and Renaissance elements. We can highlight its great monumentality, both in its measurements and proportions, the beautiful Renaissance, mudejar coffered ceiling that covers its central nave, and the Rococo frescos that decorate the presbytery. Also, a Baroque gold covered and polychrome organ above the choir, installed in 1767. With such elements it’s no wonder it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1983.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS
It is an ideal place to wander through its innumerable open spaces, refresh one’s self with water from its fountains, and visit other beautiful places such as its train station or the iron bridge that unites Cardenete and Camporrobles.
