MAIN ATTRACTIONS
In the middle area of the province, very near the capital, we find the town of Fuentes. This place has recently acquired significance because, during the construction of the AVE to the Levante coast, they found the best archaeological site of Europe corresponding to the Cretaceous period. If we add this to the natural heritage that it already has with the complex of lagoons of las Fuentes, the Old Bridge, and the church of the Assumption at the top, we get a destination of great worth for whoever visits it.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
The Old Bridge, dated between the 13th and 14th centuries, is 17.5 km long and was used to cross the Moscas River. Its two semicircular openings are its most characteristic element. On the other side of the river we find the Romanesque church of the Assumption, from the 13th century, in which we can admire numerous pieces of precious metal work, canvas paintings from the 17th century, and a lovely carving of the Virgin, as well as its baptismal font.
ACCESS
Both are open.
OUR RECOMMENDATIONS
In addition to the aforementioned site, the town has a lovely hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of Graces from the 14th century.
