MAIN ATTRACTIONS

This town was created in the 18th century, when Carlos III decided to connect Andalusia with Castile-La Mancha by way of the Despeñaperros pass and repopulate the Sierra Morena. Currently it is a small town, with no more than 1500 inhabitants, surrounded by a lovely mountainous landscape. The city center offers the traveler a visit to its 18th century Church of the Immaculate Conception, which combines a style that shows the transition from Baroque to Neoclassicism and has been declared a National Monument.

WHAT WE’LL SEE

It has an interesting classicist facade of three sections, the central one highlighted with a door framed by pilasters and a triangular pediment, above which we see its splendid triple belfry. Inside we can enjoy the play of Baroque chiaroscuros and curvatures that invite us to reflection. In all, an enveloping space that lends a great majesty to it all.

ACCESS

Free access.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

The vegetation of the area, from dry forests with pines, holm oaks, cork oaks, and rockroses, and its natural pastures reminds us that we are in another world: the Sierra Morena. Hunting enthusiasts, young and old, can also take advantage of their holidays to practice it.
