The museum offers to its visitors a tour around the world that Don Quixote and Miguel de Cervantes shared. A play of lights and shadows is the setting of 10 characters dialogue from Cervantes’ novel, accompanied by a canvas of Maestro Palmero, “El entierro de Don Quijote” and images about Don Quixote topic of José Jiménez Aranda from the 19th century. Two excellent multimedia presentations: the printing of Madrid recreation from 17th century and a walk through the main scenes of the Cervantine text. Paintings, sculptures and plastic arts.
The trip continues downstairs, in a room which reproduces what must have been the printing from 17th century where the first model of Don Quixote was edited, the voice of a trainee who worked there explains the whole process: from the moment the manuscript of Cervantes got in until the stapled book got out.
The tour ends in a room which reproduces the desk where Alonso Quijano spent hours and days reading: a voice reads different passages of the book.
Inside the museum we can find the Cervantine Library with a bibliographic deposit of more than 3,500 volumes to consult studies about Cervantine work. Besides, it has a consulting room, adapted for twenty researches and a room for digitalizing and cataloguing documents.
