Located in the wine cellar of an ancient manor house turned today into the Cultural Center “Ciega”, the Manuel Piña Museum is created with the aim of showing and spreading the work of this designer from Manzanares, one of the most important figures of the Spanish fashion from the end of 70s to the 90s.
The first idea of this museum came from Manuel Piña himself, who couldn’t see his dream of seeing his suits and memories in a museum come true.
The collections which are kept and exhibited in the museum are a resulted of the generous donation the creator’s family did as well as contributions from collaborators and friends.
Dresses and complements, pictures and videos are part of an interesting permanent collection in a special place: the ancient wine cellars of a manor house, inside the Cultural Center “La Ciega” of Manzanares.
Manuel Piña’s creations are unique and extraordinary, most of them handmade, where fashion and art are mixed. His suits and dresses reflect his memories and inspirations, of La Mancha and his youth, of the traditions and folklore. But also show the new trends of a renewed Spain, a new feminist woman and newer cultural and artistic trends. A little-known and very special legacy, whose designs can approach us to the aesthetic, ideology and culture called the 80s “Movida Madrileña”.
