The building which was de City Hall until 1986 (the ancient City Hall) is an ancient big house from 18thcentury, deeply remodeled without changing its original style with a singular façade of exposed bricks made in 1960. It was opened as a museum in 1995 and has five modern very cozy rooms for many uses. We have to pay attention to its program so we will not miss any excellent samples they offered.
On the first floor there is the ancient plenary room, used as a facility for conferences, journeys, civil weddings, etc.
On the second floor, we can remark among the exhibition rooms the permanent exhibition of Popular Art of the World, a Ramírez de Lucas collection.

FUNFACTS
The Altozano Square is the neuralgic center of Albacete. Its current name is from 16th century, when it was used for bull runs similar of those of San Fermín in Pamplona. It has been also known as a General Espartero and Commander’s Progreso Square. During Spanish Civil War a refuge was built in order to protect the population from the bombs thrown by the enemies. In other times, the square was a comic exchange place on Sunday mornings. In its pavements the first press kiosk was installed in the city and until the 90’s the Gran Hotel cinema was the only one in Albacete.
