MAIN ATTRACTIONS
In the Alto Tajo Nature Reserve, located in the Abalanquejo river deep gorge, Ocentejo shows us the places which seduce the tourist: the 18thcentury parochial church, the castle which rises up at the top, or the medieval bridge which preserves its original stones. However, without any doubt, the most interesting place and which is part of the industrial heritage is La Inesperada Salterns, a building of the year 1860 with a well to extract the salt.
WHAT WE’LL SEE
The visit to La Inesperada Salterns offers us a route, which is only accessible by foot. The route finishes in the Hundido de Armallones and the Calzada, 16 kilometres in total; it could be shorter if only the salterns are visited. These consist of a central building to storage and live, and some canals and troughs with stone pavement where the water is collected and remained still to, after the evaporation, obtain salt.
